Combating Climate Change through Solar Cookers and Rice Straw Briquettes
Donate NowAffordable Energy
Project Objective
To reduce biomass fuel reliance and promote renewable cooking technologies among rural communities in Bo and Kenema Districts.
Our Approach
Advocate Plus introduced two clean-energy solutions: solar cookers for renewable household use and rice straw briquettes made from agricultural residues. The project trained women and youth to produce, sell, and adopt these innovations.
Key Activities & Highlights
- Training — 120 entrepreneurs trained in solar and briquette fabrication.
- Distribution — 500 solar cookers & 10,000 briquettes distributed.
- Awareness — Radio campaigns and cooking demos across rural areas.
- Women’s Cooperatives — 5 women-led clean energy groups established.
Why It Matters
